Do WHAT You WANT, For Tomorrow YOU DIE?

If there is no life after death, then evil, selfishness, greed, stealing, does not matter because there is no escaping death regardless of whether you are Hitler or Mother Teresa: why not be selfish? Why not do whatever you want to be happy, to feel good, to live as long as possible, if there is nothing after death, if there is no God? What is the point of love, of caring for others, if life has no purpose & no hope?

Joey Arnold Why not escape the consequences? Plus, we are all going to die. Whether you are good or bad, we are going to die, & then we are going to rot in the ground. We cannot escape this consequence for now. So, if there is no life after death, then we can do whatever we want. There are no ultimate consequences. What is the worse that could happen? If we do really horrible things, then people might kill us, but who cares, because then we will cease from existing & we will not have to suffer anymore. Life hurts sometimes & dying can relief all of that stress. Not existing can be pretty peaceful, & besides, it is the definition of perfect bliss of Nirvana.

Charles Brichauser yes Joey, we are all going to die, but while we are here, we might as well make the most of it. And since we live in a society, it is best that we do the least harm, then do as we will.

Dude, god may not be real, but I have seen Karma work wonders. It does come back on you, good and bad. I know it's a comfort to think all the bastards of the world would face the ultimate judgement. But, that is my whole point of taking responsibility. We as a society of people need to punish the people who hurt and destroy and not count on some afterlife as punishment. What good does that do? I would feel better knowing those who rape and murder got punished. The church and the rest of society don't seem to care because they put so much faith in god punishing them. I would like to see them stopped before they do it again, thanks. All those things you mention, they do matter. In a civilized society, you treat others with respect. You treat people as you would want to be treated. There is still right and wrong, just no sin. Also, how do you know there isn't more after death? How do you know we don't come back, or become energy that joins the rest of the energy in the universe. No one knows, and that's the whole point of why I don't listen to the religious people anymore, except the Dalai Lama.

Also, look at the people in the Middle East for a moment. They never asked to be bombed into nothing, but they are. So where is god, where is justice? Why are these people, who just want to live, made to suffer? Greed. And if we took responsibility for the greed and shutting down the 1% of the world, that shit would stop. God won't do it. They are fighting daily over the idea of god. We must stop it, or it will continue.

Tyson Hodge All Christians are hypocrites. That's the point. We would not need a savior if we were not awful people. Christianity is not a seven step program to being nice perfect people. It is a worldview of understanding no one is good, and that everyone WILL experience real consequences for our behavior both now and for eternity. God took care of the eternal consequences through Jesus' substitutional death on our behalf, now we have to just deal with the temporal consequences here on earth.

Joey, without God, all you say is true. The good news is that this universe is immeasurably too complex to exist without Him. Humans are too complex...cells are too complex...DNA is too complex to exist without God. The universe itself is proof for God.
