This Couch Surfing website is turning into Facebook. These threads are like gossip-central. I also do not like that they are saying that I am Joey.

I have chosen my words very carefully. I said that Bui Ti is MOST LIKELY not your real name. and that we have REASON TO BELIEVE that your profile is a fake profile. Please prove to Mr Phuc Bui and Mr. Tran Pham that you are indeed Vietnamese by replying to their posts in Vietnamese. If as a matter of fact you are Vietnamese I will by all means apologize to you and will delete my post on Jade Tang's post.

As you might have noticed (it was actually pretty hard not to notice it), a person has persistently been spamming our Saigon CS forum over the last few weeks/months and has been creating numerous fake profiles: He calls himself Joey Arnold, The Original Oatmeal, Dan Henderson, Bob Max, Kim Freeman and he has probably been using several other names.
One of our trustworthy Saigon Couchsurfing members (Tram Pham) has actually seen his passport, so we know his real name, which is Joey Arnold, born 1985.
We want to advise the community to stay away from this individual. Please do not support him or encourage him to spread his crap on this website/forum. Please completely ignore him and his posts and don't reply to his posts. He cannot be considered trustworthy (otherwise, why would a person continuously create fake profiles?). It is clearly against the guidelines and rules of Couchsurfing to create several profiles with different names to purposely delude other members. And it is also clearly against the rules and guidelines to spam this forum with nonsensical messages. With his reckless behaviour and disregard of these rules he is clearly threatening the safety and well-being of other CS members and is undermining the CS security system. Couchsurfing headquarters keep deleting his fake profiles, as they also consider him a security threat, but so far Joey Arnold has simply continued to create new fake profiles with new fake names. This behaviour can not be tolerated as it is threatening the safety of other CS members.
Please be wary when replying to posts which were created by people with empty profiles (that means no profile picture, no profile information given, no references, no vouches, etc.). It might be Joey or some other creep who is trying to trick you into believing that he is somebody who he is actually not. Of course, when you are a new member of Couchsurfing, you will not have any references yet and nobody will have vouched for you yet. But it should go without saying that you should provide the community with some information about yourself with which you can earn their trust. After all, this is a website and community which is build on trust, so the least that members can do is to provide some information about themselves to earn the trust of other members. So I'm urging you: Please fill out your profiles completely! Don't take the trust of this community for granted, but please understand that you also have to make an effort to make this community work!

Surfing website. I did not this KNOW it was the "Let's make fun of
people because they are different than us" website. Why do you hate this
guy so much? I do not understand how you can hate this person. He seems
to be in a tough situation. I thought this website was about helping
people. You guys are harassing this foreigner man. How would you feel if
you got treated this way if you went to a different country?
I admit I think he is
unstable and needs help from someone. but it's hard to do that when you
never meet face to face.I'd like someone closer to understanding him to
help him. He has put so much effort into being odd that it is worrying.

Having several profiles is no
peccadillo Joey (=Kim). Stop trying to turn things around! It's not
other people here who act like jerks, it's YOU who is acting like a
jerk. Your profiles have been deleted by CS numerous times for a reason!
And btw, I'm also a foreigner, and people here are awesome and have treated me with nothing but respect. That is because I don't harass them, I don't act like the biggest jerk on the planet, and I don't create 101 profiles.

@Tom: we made a lot of helps to him already. We tried to talk to him, tried to explain what is right or wrong on here.

Let me have a few words,
finally yesterday I met one Couch Surfing member that has met him in
real life, yes several times. She complained to me that why there are so
much hate toward this guy (Joey or Oatmeal or Kim or whatever), that
him is not so terrible and she's helped him to buy some stuffs in
Vietnam. However, she admitted that he is not so "normal", he keeps
asking questions but when one answers, he doesn't give a shit about
this, he definitely doesn't know how to listen.
Honestly I find this guy "poor" and "funny" more than "shoud-be-hated". Anyway, as people might be annoyed by him, and as all the efforts to explain him what is right wrong, or to help him is just simply a waste of time (yay he won't stop complaining until he gets everything FREE), so I think this warming post is neccessary :)

well by now, so you know that I'm not hating anybody :) I don't hate
him. But what he is doing can also not be tolerated because he is
jeopardizing the security of other CS members by creating fake profiles.
And spamming this forum isn't cool either (and also against the rules
of the CS community)!
As you just correctly remarked, it is simply necessary to have a warning post so that people who are new here know that they should be careful.
If he is mentally unstable, as Tom suggests, then yes, he definitely needs help. But at the same time we need to ensure the safety of all other CS members first. Therefore this post.
