Yoda Movie.

Yoda Movie.

I've been watching Dexter through 8 seasons, and like Yoda, Dexter is still mysterious. The Cylon remain mysterious through the 5 seasons of Battle Star Galatica. I want to Yoda fall in love and fall to the dark side temporarily, because when Yoda says that certain things lead to the dark side, I want that to be based from his own personal experiences with love and with the dark side.

  1. According to Harry at AICN, the first stand-alone Star Wars movie will center around Yoda:

Hmm... we're going to need a "stand alone movie" forum.

I like Yoda. His wisdom is great, but in doses. That's what makes him so great. I'd rather not have to hear more about him then I have to.

Plus, I can't imagine listening to that dislexic speak for two+ hours straight. It would drive me bonkers.

Not likely, most likely a bonus to the Blu-Ray. Kind of like the R2-D2 movie. Just Sayin'. Move Along. ;)

If Frank OZ Directs and performs a solo YODA movie I could get behind it.I always dreamed that YODA was from the green planet like E.T. and the E.T.s would be living in harmony with The YODAs.

I've always liked the mystery surrounding Yoda's origins. I don't know if I'd like to see more of it on screen.

If it is true, I'd like it to be about a younger Yoda in his prime, but if that's the case we know he won't be fighting any Sith. Who could possibly pose a threat to Yoda? A dark Jedi with no Sith ties? Harder to answer, meditate on this I will.

Could be an animated film like The Clone Wars instead of live action.

Give it to Frank Oz, hell have him help craft the story, and I'd be quite interested. Without him, not so much.

I don't want to see a Yoda origins movie, it could be when he's already a Master or Knight. No need to know what planet he comes from or what species he is.

I'd like if it were retconned that Yoda was alive before the last of the Sith went into hiding. He would be the only Jedi alive who had first hand experience with the Sith and it would explain why he knew of the rule of two. We could see how Yoda and other Jedi drove them to near extinction.

I don't put much value into much of these rumors at this point.

I think there are probably a bunch of pitches at this point.

I will say I HATED the way Yoda was portrayed in the prequels with all the stupid back flipping and such. If I have to see more that nonsense, you can count me out. Yoda(or the emperor)for that matter wouldn't even have to use a lightsaber.

I thought they were so powerful in the force, that a lightsaber would seem "quaint" to them.

I love Yoda but I don't think he could carry a movie. His whole existence in the films is to be kind of a wise old advice giver, not a main character. Without having someone to be a wise sage to I think he serves no purpose, not meaning he's a bad character but that's his whole point.

"When 900 years old you reach" could be changed to something like "When 1900 years old you reach".

    Or

"The Sith have been extinct for a millennium" could be changed to something like "The Sith have been extinct for 500 years".

I don't like the idea of retconning anything from the movies, but I would love Yoda to be the reason the Sith went into hiding and were thought extinct.

I remember this rumor from years ago, a stand alone film about Yoda saving the Republic. These stand alone movies are going to be great, and you know they are coming. Yoda, Vader, Fett, the possibilities are endless.

I have a lot of friends and family members that are just casual Star Wars fans and they all seem to love Yoda more than any other Star Wars character. I think this would be a good direction to go for the first spin off movie.

Really taking this with a shaker full of salt right now.

If the standalones are to tie into the ST, Avengers-stylee, then a Yoda film makes no sense.

Sure he's got a lot of years, trained a lot of Jedi. But none of his other students are going to be as interesting as students that we have already met. My real reason for shooting down the idea of a new movie is that it will sadly be all CGI. Wise Yoda would look like an idiot.

I'd prefer it if they left Yoda alone. Let's maintain the mystery around his origins. Other than that we can fill in the blanks by guessing he was sat on the Jedi council during 600 years or so of peace. Not much action.

I think I'm coming around to this position too. He's an interesting character, but we don't need to be shown everything about his past, just like we aren't told what his species is, what planet he's from, etc. Some mystery is good. I think that creepy pic of a young Yoda that @Darth Chiznuk posted actually helped me realize I don't really want to see a movie about Yoda's past. :p

A stand-alone Yoda film would put a lot of undo pressure on the cast and crew, as everyone always tries to make the best product possible, but with a Yoda film there is no try…they must make the best movie possible.

In short, they wouldn't be able to just slap some CGI together and entitle it Star Wars, it would have to be quality.

With that in mind, I would pay to see that film.

I think a Yoda spin-off is unlikely, mostly because it's a bad idea. Also, Lucas has always said in interview that he never wrote a backstory for Yoda and prefers that he does not have one. He created Yoda to fulfill the mysterious wizard archetype and wants him to stay that way. If a Yoda origin story was proposed, I would imagine George Lucas would use whatever influence he carries through Kennedy to have it shut down.

At least I hope that would be the case. I really don't want a Yoda film to happen. It would be a huge mistake and likely ruin one of the most iconic characters of the saga. If they want to do a "beginnings of a master" story, just create a new character.

Yoda works best as a mysterious Jedi, take that away and you ruin the character slightly. Sure he isn't perfect but seeing him as a Palawan would kind of ruin the allure.

Yeah, I don't think a Yoda origin story would work at all but a stand alone action-adventure story with him as a primary character could possibly be okay. It's not my favorite idea but I would be intrigued by it at least.

There is no need for it. People are just curious about the backstory of one of the most iconic Star Wars characters. That being said, I personally feel that part of the character is the lack of backstory and the mystery surrounding the character, and an origin story would kill that.

Yoda has always been a supporting role. Do we really want 130 minutes of focus purely on the little green guy?

Like others have posted, I prefer the mystery.
