  • Nhan Hong T Good point. Original Oatmeal goes to rip-off coffeeshops to help them make profit. He then suffers temporary loss for the long run benefits of theose businesses.
  • Nhan Hong T So spend your 85,000 for the Coffeeshop! I say the places that charge you rip-offs. You can go to places you don't have to pay anything instead. It's up to you, if you want those places then don't raise any questions about being charged.
  • Nhan Hong T Foreigners shouldn't get in at all. I wouldn't give such places a damn.
  • Original Oatmeal Foreigners do not have to come to Vietnam. If you abuse the foreigners, you may scare them away. People need each other, especially in sight of internationalization. If Vietnam wants to continue competing with the other nations in the world, then they must continue doing whatever they can to continue the right kind of flow, momentum, transition, drift, curve, current, and accelerated profit.
  • Original Oatmeal Nhan Hong T is clearly missing the bigger picture. Investments must endure risks. Investment must suffer temporary lost in order to reap long-term benefits from eternal perspective over the unseen horizons of a promised utopia for all those willing to sacrifice their tradition for something better.
  • Original Oatmeal You want to refrain people from talking to foreigners? You want to disable the Vietnamese people from improving their English with those whose mother-tongue is English? You would rather that non-English speaker practice English with each other? What is...See More
  • Drink&Talk English Speaking Club [Marshall] Joey, I don't know should foreigners get in for free (for the club), but I do know one thing that, no matter who you are, foreigners or Vietnamese or anykind, you walk into a coffee shop and you expect them to not charge your drinks or your meals?

If our club does not reach your highly expectation, I would like to introduce you to places such as parks, or schools, as you said, they would even pay you the money just to speak and teach some English.

Dear Mr. Nhan Hong T, the 85.000VND you're talking about, may I asume that you meant about the Halloween Party at our club. YOu may or may not know that, nowadays, halloween parties do charge you the ticket fee. And to my point, 85.000VND is not expensive at all. Teenagers seek parties like this, and they would pay more than 85.000VND for the ticket. 85.000VND, it's not much, but it is also not a small amount, so we're pushing to our best to make this party worthy, to every penny. I do hope you would understand.

    Sincerely, Marshall.
    • Original Oatmeal Marshall, how many foreigners go to the Drink&Talk English Speaking Club? If you want to attract more foreigners, then you should add incentive or something. Of course, practically speaking, you only charge 5.000 or 15.000 VND for the club fee for each customer at the club each day. Literally speaking, that is understandable. However, my argument is not about that exactly.

Instead, I am just saying that English Clubs should consider their options wisely. Of course, cafes and clubs can do what they want, but they should weigh the pros and cons of their decisions wisely. If you want to, you can even make foreigners pay three times as much as Vietnamese people on the assumption that international travellers are loaded with more cash than poverty-invested Vietnamese rodents, I mean people.

Marshall, schools are always saying no to me because I lack qualifications, credentials, experience, skills, teaching certificates, college degrees, diplomas, abilities, charisma, looks, beauty, and the sugar of oatmeal.

For me, I am always trying to save money. Some cafes are free for me. Some people understand my temporary hardships, that is financially, emotionally, mentally, physically, psychologically, and especially spiritually. Some people seem to appreciate foreigners more than other people or clubs.

The people at the Drink & Talk English Speaking Club may be so good at English that they may be partly thinking that they don't need the help of foreigners. I can understand that line of thinking.

Plus, most foreigners are not as poor as me. Most foreigners can afford buying drinks and food for everybody in the club each night. However, my destiny lies down another path that few will tread down.
