I thought all RMIT student were expert in English? By the way don't you notice that your post has no relation to this site? :)
Eitomi VinhPrivate_message
me too. i am living hcmc
tran TramPrivate_message
do you know what is the purpose of this web??travel, meet new friends or something what i dont know but it isnt the web for english,i am sure !!!

Katze KatzePrivate_message
ohhh come on, she is new to this website, take it easy :) her post doesnt hurt anyone anyway right? :)
Hi gal, I'm RMIT student too :) but graduated 4 years ago. Not at all people join RMIT are expert in English at the beginning. They might be after their graduation, I hope so lol
This website is not only about travelling I believe. Because I saw a lot of people discussing about practicing English, English club meeting, dating, coffeeing, sth like that.
There is a weekly meeting of English club in this website, I'm sure you can find it Su Ori:)
Tom ChristiePrivate_message
do you know what it's about Katze? I just looked at your profile!

The point is she is asking for help to learn English. Thereby using the site as a way to get better at English. Someone may have said 'oh lots of people speak English on CS. Join it and you'll find someone to teach you'. I think it's obvious when someone has no references, few pictures, no friends and the first thing they want is a teacher! more and more people are asking for help to improve English every day and nothing else. Some will nto even know what the community is for. Check out other communities in other countries and look at the posts there? There re a lot more meaningful things happening that a free class. So maybe in a few years most of the posts will be about learning English and then would it be the same community it started as? Have you not seen the change since you joined?

dating? I hope not! There are sites for dating and there are sites for learning English. If you want to use this site to improve your English, which a lot of really funky members do, then think a bit more how you can contribute something rather than just asking for help. what have you contributed?

and don't ask for help you sound like a loser! use your head and think about way to get english speakers to have fun with you. yeah??? Ill join you for that but im not going to sit in a coffee shop and have someone take notes when I am speaking. Sounds boring!
Tom ChristiePrivate_message
some are asking for help and they can't even speak english! troiiiiiiiiiii oiiiiii i can see the stupid google translations! Seriously, as a language learner I understand how important it is to speak to people! but look at the events on offer!!!!!!!!! speak to lots of people there!
tran TramPrivate_message
Anyway,we should to use this web like its purpose :)
we dont wanna make it more serious, just wanna talk our opinion.
Best regards.

Su OriPrivate_message
thanks Katze Katze very much :) i don't understand why some Vietnamese think that, students of RMIT study hard-working english to go to university, too.

Hi Su Ori!
I know how you feel after reading the postings of Khang Nguyen, Tom Christie, Tran Tram for your 1st posting!
Why you dont forget about your feeling for a while then read their posting again and have a look at their profiles then you can compare with the profiles of Katze Katze, Oatmeal, Zany Tran before using your smart head.
I believe if you understand where you are, what it it... and learn from experience ppl here..your listening skill (both English and Vietnamese) will be improved well.
This community is interesting and meaningful. Be patient! :)

Dear all,

We've discussed this topic thousand times before and CS is definitely NOT an english website, dating site etc for ur info. We came here for sharing traveling experiences, learning more about different cultures or making new friends. If you were supposed to find a bf/gf or a free english teacher, please come another side. Just send me a private msg, I ll show u guys a lot of websites which helpful and match ur purpose perfectly.

By the way, we wont stop u improve ur english skills because we have no reason to do it. But pls join many CS events here n dare to speak, learn n gain instead of waiting for people come n show u how to speak english.

Cheers!

HAPPY COUCHSURFING! WHY NOT?

So you are CSers?
it is good and popular for young people to learn how to speak English in HCMC as for many reasons:
- Talk to foreigners.
- Get a good job.
- Pass University's request, ect.

And I know the teenies and new comers of CS always use this website as FB to ask a Taybalo to practise English as CS is getting cooler and cooler nowaday.
After checking some profiles I found that there are many empty blanks or some of you just filled some simple lines.
If you want a stranger help you helpfully you have and should branding yourself as prove, show people clearly WHO YOU ARE.

We all know this is a kind of social networks and you can register with any nicknames and drop some line simply so you can become a CSer but it's time you should follow its guidelines as prove you are a positive people and active members.
It's hard at beginning but you can take time to fill ur profile little by little. I bet you can write within a week when you feel good and have many sweet moods to fill a reliable profile.

One more thing I want to say that you are not wrong to ask for practise English but you should limit the same question with the same reason. you can find and use many ways to contact a foreigner and use many free websites to learn English online. Let google it! and your Vietnamese friends. there are many locals speak English very well who can help you if you know how to request them.

Tom and some foreign CSers in HCMC are active and helpful even some of their ideas seemed want to drive you into their ways but you still who you are or can keep up with it a bit but you need time, have time to use anything meaningful.

Finally, what I want to talk with you that now you are a student, a social network user, a newbie but tomorrow and in the short future you have go to work, contribute your efforts for ur company, ur family, the country, the world, humankind and anything else soooooooooooo you need/must to be careful and fulfill any tasks the best. I am sure that if you can fulfill a great profile like CS you will fulfill a great Resume when you apply to a job.:)

Please let's start a good habit since now. Don't mind any aliens advise a small thing more and more.

I hope someone read this won't mind and upset. All in all just for a bright side.

HAPPY COUCHSURFING !

Well, community is built for people and of people. Just ask yourself what you want this site become. Posts like "I'm bored, anyone want to hang out" or this one are alright but would we want this site full of them? Post like this may encourage others to do the same. I believe most of us don't want to dilute the purpose of connecting people with life, travel experiences. One doesn't not simply ask for porn sites on webtretho. You get the point. Don't we want dedicated users in our home, who actually invest time to make this site better?
Lucky LukePrivate_message
what you think sounds careless, Tram. And I feel you are the sloppiest and foolest girl I met on CS and outside.

anyway a profile always shows who u are.
Morgwai KotarbinskiPrivate_message
Folks, please calm down: no need to be harsh and/or rude. This doesn't help anyone nor anything...

@Tom, I can understand that you don't like posts like the initial one in this thread, but being harsh to ppl, will not decrease rate of such posts. It may however make newcomers (all, not only the one posting things like this) think that CS is a community of extremely harsh and strict people: I don't think it's a good thing.
Instead of getting frustrated it's better to invite such person to a weekly meeting where she can practice speaking skills and advice her to fill her profile as Benny suggested few posts above. This way we can gain a new nice community member :)
Huy Nguyen HoangPrivate_message
Hi Su Ori,

I also think that this site is dedicated for meeting and helping travelers coming to VN and HCMC city. I am sorry for admiting that but I did not mean to annoy you. Everyone wants to practice when we learn a foreign language, and I believe that you will find the most efficient way to improve your English, then you can apply it in this community and help travellers here with their queries. Dont be depressed. Finally, I agree with the others at the point that we should pay attention to the profile of a CSer if we want to know how serious he/she is with this community.

Cheers!
Huy
