I Cannot Download This?

  • Bandwidth limits for internet use should be illegal I have complained about this many of times. Most American's are saving 75% or more then what we are and they have an Unlimited connection. I really don't understand how the government or law can approve of Bell and Rogers stealing your money. I also don't understand how the CRTC thinks this solves problems. Come on America has a higher population rate and you don't see them complaining about having to limit its customers on using the internet.
    • You and 3 others like this.
    • Mike Dunston here is something worse... In the UK you can get a connection with more speed than you can in the US for a much lower cost...
    • Eric Frendo-Cumbo Dude you guys are paying less then us unless some of your states are actually doing what we are. I heard to get Unlimited Bandwidth down here the cheapest route is 5mbs download and 1mbs upload and it costs 84 dollars. Are you kidding me seriously company's are allowed to do this?
    • Mike Dunston There is no unlimited bandwidth here in the US on many of the major providers. Comcast has a cap of 250gb/mo. Most other cable providers have this same sort of cap.
    • Eric Frendo-Cumbo Its bullshit its just another way for the companies to get money.
    • Justin Loebbaka LOL 25 up and down for me unlimited 60$
    • Eric Frendo-Cumbo See now that seems like a good price we have a similar price here in Canada with a company called Teksavvy and the price is 57.99 after taxes it should be around 65 dollars. So why is the high brands ripping customers 20 to 30 dollars more?
    • Justin Loebbaka well the way I see it is to rip allot of people off who do not understand this stuff like we do so I think you are right and i think the same way
    • Mike Dalglish Actually its not about making money the crtc makes bandwidth limits on true high speed connections to stop illegal software downloading, or internet piracy. Its not fair. But when you see people with 2 terabytes of bandwidth use. Its no question why is it so high. They can't put every software criminal behind bars so they develop a way to make the customer aware.
    • Eric Frendo-Cumbo If the American's have a different reason i can't completely agree its just a money thing and its purely for that. People who have cell phones have to pay monthly to use the internet or even by the minute. So Bell and Rogers both wanted to find away of bringing that home to consumer. I mean come on do you really think increasing bandwidth is going to stop piracy no of course not cause it hasn't and that is why its all for the money.
    • Mike Dalglish Of course rogers/bell does make a bit more money. But the average person learns that you can't download everything. And tech savy gets away with it for there speeds aren't as good as cable/fiber.
    • Mike Dalglish It doesn't stop it. It limits it. Thats like saying prisons stop crime. It doesn't stop it. The hard core criminal is still go commit crime. But the low kide afraid of prison wont
    • Eric Frendo-Cumbo Teksavvy has Cable and DSL so either or is good if you can save 30 dollars with Teksavvy its about money. Teksavvy takes the bundles out of the deal and gives you the straight deal. Its obvious Rogers and Bell are making 30 dollars more and that is going towards there employees and of course themselves. LOL BLEH limiting people to piracy wow that sounds kind of dumb.
    • Mike Dalglish You know its funny. You can't defend your allegations so you say i'm dumb. Canada is one of the largest bandwidth users in the world. Our movies release later than anywhere else to prevent them from being leeked online. Because its a fact. Our laws against piracy are the lowest in the world. So people who can control something besides the law are trying to help limit the problem. And tech savy will never let you hit 150 megabyte downloads.
    • Eric Frendo-Cumbo Dude that isn't saying anything limiting bandwidth to limit piracy isn't stopping piracy there is no reason and its purely money.
    • Eric Frendo-Cumbo Its what they want you to think and there dumbing everybody into thinking yeah its a safe way to stop piracy. If they can still allow Unlimited Bandwidth with heft prices then its not about piracy at all.
    • Mike Dalglish And with that statement "its what they want you to think" i'm out want to turn yourself into one of those conspiracy theory nut cases have fun. You have the answer you were looking for. My guess is your one of those thiefs this is meant to hurt.
    • Eric Frendo-Cumbo I'm not even a thief i don't pirate Bell and Rogers is the true thief and if you honestly believe its about piracy your except that its right to increase the prices.
    • Mike Dalglish Yes rogers and bell make money off the problem. But there making that money off the people who are creating that problem. Bandwidth limits have never been an issue for me.
    • Mike Dalglish I also live in a home with three computers and four cellphones connected to the wi-fi. And we never go over are cap.
    • Original Oatmeal I am against bandwidth caps. In the NBA, I think they have salary caps, limitations. In Vietnam, you can get unlimited internet on your phone for $2 USD per month, but you can only download and/or upload a few MBs or GBs for that month. I hate these kinds of restrictions.

      People should have that freedom.
    • Eric Frendo-Cumbo CRTC is what wants to end piracy its not the ISP that gives 2 shits about it cause they are the ones dishing out the prices. The CRTC has no control over what the ISP gives for prices and its the ISP thats going way out of its boundaries. The ISP needs more control on its prices as said its illegal. The full out reason when these restrictions started was to slow down internet combustion and it turns out none of that was even an issue. So all of this is just crap.
    • Reaps Angel lmao banwith limt on fileeeeee sizes would never work just use winrar multi point archive lol below the limt its a scam there should be no limts internet was founded made popular by illegal downloads with non it still be like it was in 1995 no content
    • Original Oatmeal There are no unlimited bandwidth download/upload internet package deals in Canada? I have downloaded hundreds of hours of movies and TV shows and even of my own videos in life and I have NOT ran into any restrictions. I am sure they are out there but I have been lucky, but I have never paid for my own internet in my whole entire life, so I guess I am too young to know how the real world works.

Next week, I may drop out of high school and join a garage band.
