  yes, it's definitely worth a day for you to visit Mekong Delta.
  Because the time is short, only 1 day, you should go on a tour service. I did it last time with a tour for foreign tourists, it cost me $15 yet I found it worth it.
  
  As for tips for Saigon trip, it depends on what type of tourist you are. :P

  why dont you take a trip around the city. One day is too short to go to Mekong Delta, i think.

  Im only staying for 2 days. you know we can only take a week vacation a year in Korea. werk werk werk!
