I’m a student from China. I’m going to travel in Vietnam for about one month from August this summer vacations. It will be my first time going abroad and I’m really looking forward to it!!
However, my university asks me to come back before 8.15 to participate in summer camp, or I can’t earn practice credits for the second year in university. So to speak…
Of course that I don’t want to give up the trip! So I talked to my professors and they agreed that it’s also acceptable if I do some kinds of practice outside school.
But the premise is that I need to show my professors a document about the organization, agency or some places where I do my practice. (It’s like a Documentary evidence for my practice about one month. I know it’s sort of cheating, but pleaseee, who didn’t do any crazy things in his school time!! lol)
So, is there anyone who can offer me one?
In return, I’d like to work (actually volunteer) there for about one week. You don't need to pay me. And after that, I also need a practice evaluation from the place where I volunteer.

I am living in Hochiminh City now. However, I do not know much about renting a motorbike. I just can help you some information.

- You could hire good bike on 253 Đề Thám - Ward Phạm Ngũ Lão - District 1 - HCMC. They have automatic bikes. If you don't like this store , you could choose others on this street. There are a lots of bike hiring store on this street.
- You have to pay 100,000VND/ day = 5USD (at least) and deposit your passport. If you rent for one month, It will be 1 million and 300.000 VND (about 70USD)
- Renting bike is a good idea to explore this country and it will help you experiences local experiences. It is much more easier to move in traffic jam.
- You should not use rent bike to pass border, the store doesn't allow and it is a little complicated because rent bike number is Vietnamese number.
- Driving bike to Cambodia, you need to spend more than 6 hours and it is very hot in this season (42C)
- There are km clock on bike, so you could know how many km you go.

Well, I post this thread in the extreme hope of getting a new part-time job because I feel so uncomfortable when using my parents'money.... I did try Craiglist but it did not work at all. There was a man whose name is Robert Greco, he offered me a job (as a Vietnamese teacher and translator) and I was more than happy to accept it. However, on the day we met up, this man just talked nonsense instead of going straight to the business. He then showed me his company, which is actually a "Ghost company"....Phews, luckily, I realized that, laced up my boots, yelled some bad words at him ;P and quickly walked on home...........

I'm gonna do an internship at the international geman school from the 26th of august till the 27th of september. Unfortunatly, the school can't help me finding a place to live.
I don't think it'll be too hard to do a constant couchsurf in the same city for 5weeks, but on the other hand, paying $15 every night is too much for my budget.

I need to learn more Vietnamese. Fresco on NTMK has free parking & water. When I go to restaurants, when I see things I don't like, I prefer leaving. I just don't want to be too disrespectful. That is why I try avoiding trying out new cafes or restaurants. But I got to try more places. There are so many cafes in this city. I am not sure if I can try them all.
Highland Coffee is not too bad. Any places with free parking, water, and wifi. It is also a question of how much food and drinks cost. I also do not like paying taxes at places. I usually go where there are no visual taxes.
I will continue to learn more Vietnamese, so I can better read the signs & ask around. I will try to share my discoveries with others. I am open to suggestions, questions, advice, hints.

I am planning on staying in Vietnam for the next few years.
I gave my passport to a Vietnamese person who better make me a new visa. This time, I am not going for a multiple-entry visa. I asked for a 3-months single-entry tourist C2 (or something) visa. I hope they can go over the Cambodia border on my behalf, so I do not have to spend around 20 hours going to Cambodia and back. Some say that you have to go over the border yourself, while others claim that you can pay somebody else to do it for me. My 1st extension of my 1st ever visa does expire on the 22nd of May, 2013. They say I can buy a new 3 months visa, plus 3 more additional months (extension), plus the border stamp into my U.S. passport book, for almost $150 USD. That is almost 3.000.000 VND. I am learning about how visas, passports, and the other things work.
I was born and raised in Forest Grove, Washington County, Oregon, United States. I attended 4 different colleges over 5 years in New York, West Virginia, & Oregon. I graduated from the Word Of Life Bible Institute in New York. I attended the Appalachian Bible College in West Virginia. I worked for the Salvation Army for 9 months in Hawaii as a missionary. I worked for 5 different years as a counselor at camps in New York, California, Oregon, and Hawaii. I have worked around 5 or more years in different states as a dishwasher, and in maintenance, landscaping, housekeeping, laundry, food prep, bakery. I have worked in a traveling children ministry team for 2 years around New York. I have worked in many ministry teams with different churches and ministries in different states. Been on mission trips in Idaho, Quebec, & Hawaii. I have worked at an after-school program, at a basketball camp as a counselor, as a basketball manager, as a freelance film-maker, editor, web builder, actor, inventor, song-writer.

@Heyde: Some of us are the real witness for what he has done. We all experienced spending time with him, and what could we have back? Nothing for sure! If you spend more time with him on here, you will find that he is really such a spammer, and a jerk (for sure a jerk!). I know something about the story between him and his gf in Vietnam. And I also know the reason why he has to move to Binh Thanh and stay there. And we are so tired of him... We also don't want him to spoil our community anymore...

@smirking: i know, I just wanted to be helpful. he told me a lot pity story about him. I thought he was a pity man so I decided to help him, but now, too late to relize that he was so sick, crazy, bad guy! so that, I will write a post about him! looking for a lawyer to kick him out of my country if I can!

I've been reading your posts for a few weeks now and i thought it was better to not write anything back, to just ignore you, hoping you would go away.

I think you are a lying, talent-less loony. You repeat over and over the same information so many times that i bet all of us have memorized it by now. I takes you 5 long paragraphs or more to write what anybody could write in 5 sentences. I bet some could even do it in one.
Repeating that you are an inventor, a singer, a writer, etc, is maybe a way for you to try to make it real. But it doesn't work that way buddy.

i saw a post on your blog last night with the title "Adam and Steve", it was a picture of 2 gay couples and the caption says "If gay people can take a bullet for their country, they should be able to take a date to prom", and your comment that you're disagree with the photo.
i have seen you trolling here many times before and i didn't want to say anything about you because it's none of my business. but i've learned that you're not only just a liar, not just disrespectful to the people who helped you but also a homophobic.
you claimed that you're a movies maker, a writer, an inventor, a singer and so on. i have spent years studying cinematography and frankly, your Youtube videos are lame. and i'm just thinking if you were that good why shouldn't you be in Hollywood instead, but Ho Chi Minh City, and disturbing the peace and friendliness of our community on CouchSurfing. now every posts they've made are all about you. believe me Joey/Kim/Bob/Dan, it was not because you have white skin like you would always say - you are not the only white skin person here, there are 320,000 of them and counting living all over Vietnam; it was not because we are communistic and socialistic, you have no idea about socialism; it was mostly because you're an annoyance.

@cindy Pham . Shame is yours. Why should you judge others in such an unfair way? What has Joey done to other Couchsurfers in Saigon? Nothing, he's just a guy with sincere intention to stay and benefit the community. He may of shown some off-beat behavior, but does it really matters. You have a lot of homeless insane people on streets, some people piss in tree stumps or into walls along some main streets; which is more decent than Joey's acting, isn't it?
