Educate Facebook Users, Please

Facebook said that I was fake and not real. I had to answer some security questions. I had to match photos with the correct friends of mine. I kept on failing. Each time I failed those tests, I had to wait an hour to take the tests again. I stayed up all night (over 12 hours: now it is 9 AM 2014-02-08 Saturday) trying to pass the test. I used my other Facebook as aid with remember who is who. I am sometimes bad with names and I have so many friends. Facebook most likely thought I was fake because people reported me to Facebook. That is not good. Did you report me?
  • Eric Frendo-Cumbo That or cause your Facebook was created in your country of origin so they thought your account was stolen
  • Original Oatmeal I created this account around December 2012 in Vietnam instead of USA. I did not create this account in the USA, but I also didn't create this yesterday either. I created this around 15 months ago and I have over 1,600 friends which should translate to Facebook to mean over 1,600 reasons why I am real. If I was so fake, then Facebook should have dealt with me 16 months ago. It is like a late whistle blow from a referee in a sports game. It is like double jeopardy or something. I want to tell Facebook that it is too late. I want to tell Facebook to ignore the complaints that they might get from people who may have reported me.
  • Eric Frendo-Cumbo maybe cause your using somebody elses trademark?
  • Original Oatmeal Do you see any other Oatmeals around here? I am totally original.
  • Eric Frendo-Cumbo thats the problem dude there is another Original Oatmeal and he is commercial

Comics, Quizzes, and Stories by Matthew Inman, Aka The Oatmeal.
    Entertainment Website: 2,091,328 like this
  • Original Oatmeal but I am the Original Oatmeal
  • Original Oatmeal He is The Oatmeal
  • Original Oatmeal He cannot own the word Oatmeal
  • Original Oatmeal there are Quaker Oats
  • Eric Frendo-Cumbo Yeah well if he thinks it conflicts with his trademark its his issue
  • Original Oatmeal he needs to go to Quaker Oats
  • Original Oatmeal Quaker has been around longer than him
  • Eric Frendo-Cumbo completely different thing buddy when your comparing a person who uses that name to identify himself then a cereal who doesn't care
  • Original Oatmeal Facebook knows the difference. This would be like if a girl on Facebook named Rose complained because there was a girl named Original Rose. I think that Facebook should be smart enough to allow Rose and Original Rose to co-exist because those are two different names and since Rose is so common and Oatmeal is just a food that is very common and Oatmeal is a name that should remain in the public domain and I do not think he cares anyway.

This is not why Facebook thought I was fake. The problem is that Facebook will not tell me what I was doing wrong. But I do know that I have been joining and posting in new Facebook groups and on the walls of new friends. This week, I added around 200 new friends. Facebook may think I am fake because I am adding friends and because people reported me as spam on the Facebook groups.

    But I'm not spam.

Dear readers, why would you report me?

    Do not be so insulting.
  • Quân Trương because you kept spamming on our newsfeed.
  • Original Oatmeal Facebook needs to educate the users how to use Facebook. This is a very common mistake that people make. People improperly use Facebook. Many times, people are too lazy to use Facebook correctly. Other times, people are unaware of how Facebook works.

Often times, people fail to modify their Facebook settings. You can edit the newsfeed options. For example, when there is a story that you do not want to see in your newsfeed, you can click on the x.

After that, it will ask you if you want to discontinue from seeing more stories from that same source, whether that be from Facebook groups, ages, or profiles. Facebook has the tools for people to use.

Too often, people instead delete their friends. Many times, people report their friends to Facebook. But that is improper and not as civilize.
