Nick Cox Some girls in VN are so white that they look like they are suffering from a severe case of anaemia... I agree, in some cases, skin that is too pale looks awful. Give me a lovely, olive skinned woman any day of the week

Samuel Faith Here is the thing. Majority of people from West prefer tanned skin over pale, white skin. And majority from East prefer fair skin (not necessarily white, but fair). It's just preference. Nobody from Asia is imposing their skin complexion preference onto any Westerners, so why bother imposing preference of tanned skin on Asians by saying it's better? If you prefer tanned skin, go look for tanned girls or guys. If you prefer fair skin, then look for girls/guys with fair skin. Simple as that.

Samuel Faith Oh and not getting enough Vitamin D is one issue, getting skin cancer due to too much UVA/UVB is another. There is always a balance. Don't talk as if there is only one side to the coin.

Marc Mista Did you read how alcohol increases chance of skin cancer? In uk metro paper 29/01/13 with all the sun and 333 I consume im odds on for skin cancer if its right.still rather that than be a pasty goth.

Samuel Faith I am not too sure how I am right or wrong. There is no right or wrong here. Too much UVA/UVB can cause skin cancer. So I would rather use sun screen and cover myself than to run risks of getting skin cancer. That's what I was talking about.

Scott Gelsthorpe It's all about not looking like a Cambodian. Better to have white skin with nasty blue veins bulging out, black hairs showing out like a full moon on a dark night than to have a moderate tan. Go figure why. Makes no sense to me.

Samuel Faith Hahaha, I guess some Vietnamese will say that, yeah I guess. It's common phenomenon in Asia, actually. But Asians growing up abroad (Canada, Europe, anywhere cold) will be total opposite.

Harold Mossman Here's the deal folks. Only certain people are predisposed to skin cancers. Otherwise all the farmers, cyclo drivers and various people who are exposed to the sun constantly would all be victims. Sun blocks are are actually preserved with parabens {look it up] which are known carcinogens. I grew up in beach suburbs in Australia and exposed myself to the sun alot. Guess what? no signs of skin cancer after 63 years of life. I imagine people like Samuel Faithwould probably get it a lot sooner with all the block out he slaps on himself and coming from his neck of the woods.

Harold Mossman My earlier post was about osteoporosis and vit. dand calcium defiencies. The Vietnamese diet for a start is sadly lacking in calcium especially the more affluent ones. Combine this with virtually no sunshine and do you have? Who else has seen babies and toddlers wrapped from head to toe when they go out? Years of that conditioning and you have sun phobia which pass down for generations to come.

As if it's a consumer product packaging design matter. And about the sacred on-the-office-floor post-lunch nap: "gotta maintain weight, because Vietnamese guys don't like skinny girls"
