Hi everyone, I will be in Ho Chi Minh City with my friends from this 26 to 29 April for a few days to explore the great city. Any suggestion and advised where i should go? I hope to make some local friends and creates some memories during my stay ^^
Hi, good to hear that...I can take you guys around HCM city for a night...if you want to ...just contactme...ntanhbio@gmail.com
Try to wander around the center (district 1): Nguyen Hue, Le Loi, Dong Khoi street. Though they were all modernized now but it always gives me that kind of vintage feeling. Try some small and cozy coffee shops in that area too (my sugestion: L'usine - 70B Le Loi St., dis1)
In the early evening, you could go to Ben Bach Dang, which is also in the center near the Saigon river to catch the sunset.
For night life, you could to the Backpacker area in De Tham, Pham Ngu Lao St. There're cool pubs and clubs there. You could also try: Chill Sky Bar - 76 A Lê Lai St. Q.1 - a gorgeous rooftop bar in town

Hi Julia, how are you?
Why don't you stay with us 1 more day because 30 April is our special day, in English is "Fall of Saigon", I think. This day in 1975 was the day that the South of Vietnam was liberated. A firework performance is set up on that day. Hence, I have some places I think you'll like to visit
- First, I recommend some places which have historical value. Reunification Palace is located on 135 Nam Kỳ Khởi Nghĩa Street, district 1. It was the home and workplace of the President of South Vietnam during the Vietnam War.
- Another one is The War Remnants Museum which is located on 28 Võ Văn Tần Street, district 3. It's not far from the Reunification Palace, you can walk just 10 minutes. Here you can find some items and photos from the war.
- The last one is Ho Chi Minh City Museum of Fine Arts which is located on 97 Phó Đức Chính Street, district 1
You can hang around these places, there are many restaurants, shopping malls for you to choose. You should also visit Ben Thanh market but the price is quite expensive.
A restaurant named "Quán Ngon" which is located on 160 Pasteur, district 1, it has many Vietnamese dishes from south to north. To be honest, the taste is not very excellent but the menu is diversified, you can find some dishes you like, then I'll show you where you can find them more tasty ^^
Hope these info is helpful for you. Cheers.

let say dist 1 is just a touristic place, everything is more expensive than the other areas, i think that if you want to see vietnamese style life u can take a tour to mekong, it's real life style, and if you have time, can visit dalat, is a beautiful city of flowers , lakes, minorities, and quite, nice weather, so let say 1 day for saigon will be enough, there is many choises of mekong tour, 1 day, 2days or 3 days return or you can go to cambodia from that mekong tour, up to you. because i use to have a guesthouse in dist 1 and a travel agency so i know very clear about those infos, if you need more infos, let me know
Good luck
Good luck
Go to District 1. There are many motor-bike drivers that will want to drive you around. They often ask for around $40.000 VND for a 10 km ride or so. That is around $2 USD.
Sometimes they charge more and sometimes more depending on which district you are in and how far you are going.
I give them money before I hop on, and I refuse to give them more money after. They have to agree with the price. Because if you are going really far, like from District 1 to 8 is like $100.000 VND or more sometimes. So it depends on how you want to get around. It lt also depends on how much money you want to spend.
Maybe you can get a lower price if you ask the motor-bike driver to drive you around all day or for all 4 days that you are here.
You can save money if you know exactly what you want to do. Maybe you can pay a driver $500.000 VND or less for them to drive you around all the time for the 4 days that you are here, or for however long you want or need. I am not exactly sure of the price.
I live in District 1 of Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. I teach English in the different districts all over this town.
I use to pay motor bike drivers. One time they asked me to pay $400.000 VND to take me to one school that was around 20 or more km away. Then I tried walking to the schools. Then I bought a used mountain bicycle for $2.000.000 VND. I do not have a motor bike.
I live at the Saigon Backpacking Hostel for $6 USD a night.
That is $126.000 VND per night. This hostel is in District 1. I share a room with up to 5 other travellers. That means 3 bunk beds with people coming and going here. I am here until I find my own apartment room. The address to that is
Saigon Backpacker's Hostel: 203 Phạm Ngũ Lão, phường Phạm Ngũ Lão, District 1, Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam
